My name is Amanda Cottrell and I have been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina for ten years, following five years working as a school counselor. I am married to Matt and we have a daughter in sixth grade and a son in kindergarten. I enjoy reading, deep conversations with friends and serving as a leader with our sixth grade girls small group in our church.
In 2008, I married Matt when he was hallway through seminary at Fuller, where we met Terry & Sharon in one of the beginning RelateStrong classes. After living back in NC for a few years, I noticed that the wisdom we had learned in the class would make such a difference in the marriages in the ministry community in which we live. Thanks to the Hargraves, we returned to California in 2013 in order to participate in the RelateStrong training and have taught many classes since then. I have also had some great opportunities to teach the Pain/Peace Cycle and The Four Steps in my church setting.
In my private practice I work with mostly adult females and some marriages, using mostly RT, as well as some Internal Family Systems work and EMDR. I am so thankful to continue growing in my work with RT and be a part of this incredible community!
Amanda, so good to meet you at the RT conference and get to spend time with you and other therapists at lunch one afternoon. IT was great to hear about the work and ministry you and your husband do. Thanks for being a part of the community.
Thanks for sharing Amanda. You’re using your voice/skills in so many cool settings.
