Season 1 | Episode 19 | Special Guest, RT Therapist Dr. Ulrica "Tasha" Kassar

We are really loving this journey connecting with therapists in the RT Community. It's amazing to hear the stories of how people came into discovering and falling in love with the Restoration Therapy model.

In this episode we connected with Dr. Ulrica Kassar (who was brought to our attention by our last guest -- Bisola Adediji) who is the Founder and CEO of Chosen Counseling and Coaching Services. Dr. Kassar came across RT and met Dr. Terry Hargrave at the Meet the Master Seminar at Texas Wesleyan University where she completed her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Kassar has a passion for helping client navigate their "middle moments" and she brings into the work with her clients such a rich experience both personally and professionally.

Near the end of the episode when we discuss Restoration Therapy and theological integration, Dr. Kassar shared with us her character study she did with some women of the biblical character Hagar. In that discussion we mentioned a couple of books that bring attention to specific female biblical characters that are often overlooked and are on the underside of oppression not only within the text, but often within modern scholarship.

They are Texts of Terror: Literary-Feminist Readings of Biblical Narratives by Phyllis Trible, The Marys of the Bible: The Original #MeToo Movement by Boaz Johnson, Daring Joy: What Six Women in the Bible Teach Us About the Power of Celebration When It Feels Risky, Complicated, and Even Impossible by Nicole Zasowski.
